]]><![CDATA[A Tale of Two Fireplaces: City and Country]]>Tue, 20 Jan 2015 00:43:00 GMThttps://www.yourfamilycomfort.com/blog/keeping-busy-with-natural-gas-fireplacesWith such a busy Fall 2014, there was hardly anytime left over to blog! So what have we been so busy with, you may ask?
Why fireplaces of course! We filled lots and lots of beautiful, warm fireplaces into our customer's homes in the past few months.

Here are a couple of our favourite installations of the season. One installed in an century old city house, in downtown Hamilton's leafy westside. The other, in a country house set in rural Caledon, Ontario.

The City House

Our city installation is one of our favourites to date. These homeowners had quite a dilemma. They absolutely loved the charm, and character of the fireplace in their 100+ year old downtown Hamilton home, and who could blame them:

At the same time, they longed for a functioning fireplace to warm them throughout the year. With a little digging, and determination from both sides, we were able to fulfill both of their wishes. We found the perfect solution in the
Valor Portrait series, combined with a beautiful Fires of Tradition back plate. These homeowners now not only have a warm fire to sit by, but love that they were able to maintain a look that was true to the era of their home.

The Country House

The second was an installation we completed for a family in Caledon, ON. They fell victim to the ice storm of late 2013, which left them without heat for three days.
After the initial consultation, and a few follow-up discussions about options and considerations, they finally settled on the gorgeous Legend G3 by Valor. They were seeking a model that would adequately heat their space whenever needed, or wanted, and also something that would be pleasing to the eye. This fireplace does not disappoint, in either of those areas. We think it was the perfect choice, and hope they will enjoy it for years to come.

Carbon monoxide (CO) is a colourless, odourless and tasteless gas that is toxic to humans.
Effective October 14th 2014, it is the law to have a working carbon monoxide detector installed in all homes in Ontario that are equipped with a fuel burning appliance or has an attached garage.
CO Detectors should be placed near all sleeping areas.
